raising world changers
The unexpected joys & challenges of homeschooling from an “unqualified momma”
I never wanted to homeschool my children. Growing up, I had this idea that homeschoolers were unsocial and overly protected. I made the statement, “I will never homeschool my children” many times!
Having children on the mission field I felt even more strongly that homeschooling would NOT be an option for our family. Some of the reasons were…
“I am not good at teaching”
“My kids need more social interaction”
“I want them to be completely immersed in the culture we’re ministering in”
“I don’t have enough patience for that”
“I am afraid I will ruin my children”
Have you ever found yourself naming off any of these reasons for not wanting to homeschool? It turns out that many of these reasons I gave for NOT homeschooling, actually became the very reasons why I am thankful that God led us to homeschool our children while living in a cross-cultural environment.
